obligatory seasonal boot review

Last year at about this time (as in, almost to the day), I wrote a post about my idea of rain boots (click there to check it out). While my ideals haven’t changed much, I have come to accept that the fall and winter seasons require practical footwear.
So here are my picks for this year:

Left: These moto-inspired pull on boots by Wanted are kind of perfect. They’re more feminine than a lot of the motorcycle boots you come across and the harness detail around the heel is really cute without adding any fuss. The price is right too, they’re currently on sale for $49.50 on Piperlime.com. They’re synthetic, which when it comes to winter boots doesn’t bother me much. So often, leather or not, boots get absolutely destroyed in just one season by the wet snow, sand and salt all over the streets. I’d really rather wear out a pair of $50 boots than ones that cost five times that.

Middle: These DV by Dolce Vita “Beatrix” boots are my pick for tall boots this season. At $104.50, they are a steal for real leather riding boots. With buckle detail and an almond shape toe, they will pair well with anything.

Right: These are my not-so-practical pick for this year. The Adorno platform boot by ALDO. They’re like a well-heeled military boot, and there’s nothing wrong with that. The threaded platform sole helps make them at least a little bit reasonable. My suggestion? Buy them a half size up so you can wear a nice warm pair of socks in them.
