How do you infuse an otherwise bland Saturday night with some glamour? A fabulously teased up hair do of course. I found the inspiration on Pinterest (where else!?), and with the assistance of my lovely friend Alex, we played around until we made it happen. I wish I could give you a step-by-step “how to”, but to be honest, we had no real strategy. My hair is completely and utterly straight – it takes a lot of product and teasing to get it to do anything besides lay flat, so this was quite a mission. A good teasing brush is essential (this is the one I have), and lots of strong hold hair spray. Use what works best for you. Dry shampoo is another great way to add texture and volume to your hair (I’m dying to try the Bumble & Bumble brown hair powder). Basically what we did was teased my hair and pinned it all up on the crown of my head, leaving a layer all the way around my head to then smooth over top! Once it was all set, we put it into a pony tail and flipped the long part under the elastic! Fun right?
If you want to try this yourself, I say go for it! Find a picture to work from and play around! These are the supplies you’ll want to have on hand:
- Teasing brush and/or fine tooth comb
- Bobby pins (lots of bobby pins!)
- Hair spray (one with a strong hold, I like this one by Aussie, it’s a drug store brand and very inexpensive.)
- Hair elastic(s)
- Dry shampoo (optional, but handy!)
