five favourites: movies

Winter is the best time to cuddle up with a glass of wine and some of your all time favourite movies. These are my five favourites… as in, if I could only watch five movies for the rest of my life, these would be them. They’re not especially “important” or spectacular films, they’re just… well, they’re just my favourites :)

  1. BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S

This movie is timeless. I will never get sick of it. Ever. It is perfect in every way. Audrey is flawless; the whole movie is just perfect. I think that Holly Golightly would agree that, short of a 6am trip to Tiffany’s, this DVD and a cup of tea is the best cure for the mean reds.

  2. THE PRINCESS BRIDE

The. BEST. It came out the year before I was born, but still – childhood movie greatness. I watch this at least once a year, it’s just so fun – it’s fantasy, comedy and romance, all in one.  Plus, Robin Wright is such a babe.

  3. JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH

It is weird, it is wonderful and I love, love, LOVE IT! Tim Burton produced it, so… duh, it’s awesome. There’s a terrifying giant rhino, two crazy evil aunts, animated insect friends, a touch of magic and a giant peach that flies James all the way from England to New York City. If you’ve never seen it, your childhood was missing something awesome – so watch it.

  4. CRUEL INTENTIONS

Late 90’s amazing-ness anyone? Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair… yes, yes, yes, yes. It’s the perfect amount of dark, twisty and major teenage drama.

  5. GIA

Ok evidently I have a thing with 90’s movies. This is a biographical HBO movie about 80’s supermodel Gia Marie Carangi. High fashion, drugs and New York in the 80’s. It is beautiful and tragic. I’m not a big Angelina Jolie fan, but I will admit that she plays Gia perfectly.
